Battlefield Play 4 Free

Rumor has it that Battlefield Play4Free just entered the public closed beta phase. With that being said it will only be matter of time before it reaches the open phase; so if you haven't signed up yet head on over to the link below. On the right hand side you'll see a window for codes to be put in and another for you to enter your email address. When this game actually goes live it will be 100% free, so this is your chance to give it a try and to help make it better before it goes live. I'm just hoping it gives me that much needed taste of Battlefield to keep me happy before BF3.

For those of you who didn't know, EA has already released a free to play battlefield. However it is limited to 3 classes and is cartoon like in nature. While both games can be launched from the browser and offer a limited graphics solution to Battlefield fans new and old, this newer installment is much closer to the experience you receive in the latest titles minus the destruction engine of course. For those of you wondering, yes, there is a micro transaction model in place. However, it's designed to enhance your players look for the most part.

Battlefield 3

If you have been following the statements from EA over the last few years you would have noticed that CEO John Riccitiello has taken the success of Call of Duty rather personally. He has made it readily apparent over the last few years that he is not taking their success lightly and that he wishes to crown himself king of the fps once again. Apparently it's not enough to have a monopoly on the sports market, and several very successful titles in various other genres. I think his COD envy has been made most apparent with the latest installment of Battlefield, Bad company 2. While he has also targeted games like Halo he has made pointed announcements and timed free content releases directly with paid content from Modern Warfare 2.

For years now he has been hiding his ace in the hole, Battlefield 3. Only recently has he made comments on how amazing their new engine is. I'm paraphrasing but last he commented on the "never changing" engine of the CoD franchise. In fact, for those of you who don't know, the core engine is still the same one they have been using since CoD2 launched with the Xbox 360. It has been no surprise then that he has made this his target of offense and pointed out the numerous new iterations of their technology which would culminate in a final announcement of the amazing technology found in Frostbite 2. Their new engine will likely be seen in many games soon, but for now it has only one title under it's belt, Battlefield 3.

I know most of you have been waiting patiently for a more traditional Battlefield experience and 3 promises just that. In fact I'm sure most of you are already aware of this. What you probably don't know is that Riccitiello has been right all along. CoD is slipping and ready to take the reigns is Battlefield 3. Enjoy...
